Good Food and Impromptu Dates

It was another rainy day. LOTS of rain. We have some potted plants growing outside (Crackerjack Marigold, Beans, Garden Lilies, and another flower that both Kaleb and I cannot remember for the life of us) and we decided to pull them in from fear of them getting ripped apart in the downpour.

We spent most of the day inside. Since it was a Saturday, we did the weekly chores: laundry, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, and vacuuming. But instead of boring you with the morning chores, let's talk about food. It was a day of food in the Kjar home. For breakfast we scrambled up some eggs and toasted some of our homemade batter bread. Delicious! A while ago we also created our own pizza dough recipe and had a blast making two medium pizzas complete with extra cheese and lots of pepperoni and olives as well as a pizza with tomato slices and fresh basil. Yum!
Our Delicious Homemade Neapolitan Cheesecake

The night before I had mentioned to Kaleb that I really loved baking and cooking and that I wish I could just do that all the time. As a result, we decided to also throw in some cheesecake making to our day: Neapolitan Cheesecake. So, so delicious. Of course, we didn't dive into that until later in the day :)

Dinner was an extra special treat. Every Month, Kaleb's Aunt Sheri and Uncle Brian provide some money for their kids and all the cousins to get together and go out to eat. We have really enjoyed this blessing and have really loved getting together and getting reacquainted with our family members that are in the area. We have enjoyed the food of several places over the months that I highly recommend, including: The Black Sheep Cafe, Carrabba's, SLAB Pizza, and Olive Garden. For this particular cousin dinner, however, we went to one of our personal favorites: Zupas. Let' just say that we really enjoyed ourselves :)

After dinner, we got into the car and started driving away when I turned to Kaleb and suggested that we go see a movie. Apparently, he had been thinking the same thing and we headed over to the movie theater. If you haven't seen it yet, The Avengers: Age of Ultron was an excellent movie. Afterwards, Kaleb and I were talking about all the things that we really liked and here are some things that parents will really appreciate to hear: the movie is clean as far as morality goes (which is so impressive nowadays) and although there was some bad language, the characters pointed out that bad language can be offensive. When does that happen in the movies? Other than those two things, the movie was very balanced between action and "downtime". The two of us really enjoyed it.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable day. But what isn't when you have the world's best man as your husband? :)
